Neurological disorders such as Parkinsonism cause serious socio-economic problems as there are, at present, only therapies that treat their symptoms. The well-established hallmark alpha-synuclein (SYN) is enriched in the inclusion bodies characteristic of Parkinsonism. We discovered a prominent partner of SYN, termed Tubulin Polymerization Promoting Protein (TPPP), which has important physiological and pathological activities such as the regulation of the microtubule network and the promotion of SYN aggregation. The role of TPPP in Parkinsonism is often neglected in research, which we here attempt to remedy. In the normal brain, SYN and TPPP are expressed endogenously in neurons and oligodendrocytes, respectively, whilst, at an early stage of Parkinsonism, soluble hetero-associations of these proteins are found in both cell types. The cell-to-cell transmission of these proteins, which is central to disease progression, provides a unique situation for specific drug targeting. Different strategies for intervention and for the discovery of biomarkers include (i) interface targeting of the SYN-TPPP hetero-complex; (ii) proteolytic degradation of SYN and/or TPPP using the PROTAC technology; and (iii) depletion of the proteins by miRNA technology. We also discuss the potential roles of SYN and TPPP in the phenotype stabilization of neurons and oligodendrocytes.

Air pollution is the biggest environmental problem in modern societies, causing considerable health damage and requiring substantial financial resources for health care. The goal of the study is to demonstrate the adverse economic consequences of air pollution on example of a small, open Central European country, Hungary, and to provide quantified financial arguments for macroeconomic decision-making for the development of a long-term energy strategy. On the basis of the Cobb-Douglas production function and Solow-Swann model of dynamic economic systems a simple and robust model was constructed to estimate and predict economic losses, caused by the pollution. On base of results it is obvious, that on base of macroeconomic theory and combination of various, publicly available, quality-controlled statistical resources quantifiable models can be constructed to characterise the economic consequences of air pollution, but it should be taken into consideration, that the reliability of economic models considerably depends on their initial parameters and practical validity of assumptions, based on which the underlying economic theories were built. The most important economic burden of air pollution is caused by the loss of working-age population, resulting in a decrease of 4.1-9.4 % a year in Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the next fifty years. The additional burden of health care costs amounts to 0.1 % of GDP. Reducing air pollution is not only a quality of life improvement but also an investment into the economic development. Notwithstanding of statistical biases it could be proven the importance of combination health economic and econometric methods in preparation of more efficient environmental-related socio-economic decisions.

We hypothesise that regression may have an impact on the effectiveness of adjuvant IFN therapy, based on its role in the host immune response. Our purpose is to investigate regression and ulceration as prognostic factors in case of interferon-alpha (IFN)-treated melanoma patients. We followed 357 IFN-treated melanoma patients retrospectively, investigating progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) depending on the presence of ulceration and regression. A Kaplan-Meier analysis was performed, and we used a Cox regression analysis to relate risk factors. The survival function of the Cox regression was used to measure the effect of regression and ulceration on PFS and OS depending on the Breslow thickness (T1-T4) of the primary tumour. Regression was significantly positively related to PFS ( P  = 0.0018, HR = 0.352) and OS ( P  = 0.0112, HR = 0.380), while ulceration showed a negative effect (PFS: P  = 0.0001, HR = 2.629; OS: P  = 0.0003, HR = 2.388). They influence survival independently. The most favourable outcome was measured in the regressed/non-ulcerated group, whereas the worse was in the non-regressed/ulcerated one. Of risk factors, Breslow thickness is the most significant predictor. The efficacy of regression is regardless of Breslow thickness, though the more favourable the impact of regression was in the thicker primary lesions. Our results indicate that regression is associated with a more favourable outcome for IFN-treated melanoma patients, whereas ulceration shows an inverse relation. Further studies are needed to analyse the survival benefit of regression in relation to innovative immune checkpoint inhibitors.

BACKGROUND/AIM: Targeted therapy and immunotherapy, with additional stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT) have revolutionized the management of metastatic malignant melanoma (mMM). We aimed to analyze the effectiveness and safety of SRT and determine its role in the complex management of mMM. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We treated 24 patients with solitary metastasis, 15 with oligometastatic disease and one with multiple metastases. The primary endpoint was to investigate the possible effect of stereotactic radiotherapy for metastatic lesions on patients' survival taking the systemic therapy into consideration. RESULTS: The median overall survival (OS) for the entire group was 30.07 months; 50% of them received immunotherapy, 32% received targeted therapy. Complete remission of the irradiated lesions was observed in six patients, partial tumor response was achieved in 13, while stable disease was detected in 10; tumor progression occurred in four cases. Compartmental recurrence (recurrence in the brain in a not previously irradiated region) developed in seven patients. OS was significantly longer in those with extracranial metastases treated with stereotactic body radiotherapy in comparison to brain SRT. We found a strong correlation between tumor response and mean OS (42.5 months after complete or partial remission versus 11.8 months in those with stable or progressive disease). No OS difference was observed according to the number of irradiated lesions or type of systemic therapy before SRT (no therapy: 43.6 months, with therapy: 25.7 months). Significant OS advantage was shown when immunotherapy was administered post-SRT (mean OS: with immunotherapy: 39.6 months, no immunotherapy: 18.5 months). CONCLUSION: In the case of oligometastatic MM, SRT can be used safely and with good efficiency in addition to targeted therapy/anti-programmed cell death protein 1 therapy. Improved survival warrants including SRT in the complex management of mMM, however, further studies are needed for SRT optimization.

This study explores the relationship between environmental taxation, environmental technologies, energy resources, and consumption-based carbon emissions in five leading green economies from 2000 to 2019. The study applied the Cross-Sectional Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (CS-ARDL) model to derive benchmark results, with Augmented Mean Group (AMG) and Common Correlated Effect Mean Group (CCEMG) techniques being utilized for conducting robustness analyses. The empirical findings suggest that environmental taxation, environmental innovations, and the consumption of renewable energy are associated with a reduction in consumption-based carbon emissions, thereby contributing to enhanced environmental sustainability. Conversely, the utilization of non-renewable energy is linked to an increase in consumption-based carbon emissions. These results align with the objectives outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals' 2030 agenda, particularly SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), offering valuable policy implications.

Innovative Work Behavior (IWB) of employees is one of the essential requirements for organizations to excel in competition in today's dynamic world. Nowadays, organizations can keep the current pace through competitive advantage. But to acquire competitive advantage, employees must be creative and innovative in their work-related behaviors. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Pakistan are suffering several challenges in this regard. Therefore, current study is designed to examine the role of negative events and negative leadership on the IWB of the employees with mediating role of Psychological Well-being (PsyWB). Further, the moderating role of Perceived Organizational Support (POS) has also been tested. The negative event used in current research is Workplace Incivility (WPI) and Despotic Leadership (DL) from the negative leadership styles examined. Results of the current study showed that the presence of WPI and DL in organizations damage the IWB of employees as they harm the PsyWB of employees. We find that PsyWB mediated the relationship among DL, WPI, and IWB. POS is helpful for employees to overcome the negative issues prevailing in the organizations. The SMEs need to construct policies to eradicate WPI and must discourage despotic personalities to make the environment favorable for employees to protect their IWB. There must be some events that can increase the positive PsyWB of employees to make them more creative and motivated. Likewise, POS must be at sufficient level so that employees feel safe and healthy in all respects.

INTRODUCTION: The risk of cutaneous malignancies is significantly higher in immunosuppressed patients compared to the general population. These high-risk skin tumors tend to be aggressive, multiplex, rapidly growing lesions. It is common to see local recurrence after surgical excision. Multiplex tumors are difficult to treat, especially in the head/neck region. OBJECTIVE: Amongst the standard treatment options, electrochemotherapy can be a suitable option. Our aim was to evaluate the efficacy of electrochemotherapy in immunocompromised patients. METHOD: In 9 immunosuppressed patients, 118 (average: 13, n = 5-27) non-melanoma skin tumors were treated with electrochemotherapy with intravenous administration of bleomycin, according to the ESOPE criteria. RESULTS: The median follow-up was 15 months. 6 months after the treatment, the objective response rate was 96%. We observed complete response in 88%, partial response in 8% and progressive disease in 2% of the treated lesions. In 2%, the response was not evaluable. CONCLUSION: In immunocompromised patients, electrochemotherapy is an effective and safe therapeutic option for non-melanoma skin tumors. In order to provide more ideal management for this special sub-group, prevention, multidisciplinary approach and optimized immunosuppressive therapy is essential. Introduction: Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) is a transmembrane protein that may be expressed on the surface of prostate cancer (PC) cells. It enables a more sensitive and specific diagnosis PC, compared to conventional anatomical imaging. Aim: The integration of PSMA-based imaging in the personalized radiotherapy of PC patients and the evaluation of its impact on target volume definition if stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) is planned for locally recurrent or oligometastatic disease. Patients and methods: The data from 363 examinations were analyzed retrospectively. Inclusion criteria were histologically verified PC and clinical data suggesting local recurrence or distant metastasis. Whole-body 99mTc-PSMA-I&S single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT)/CT or 18F-JK-PSMA-7 positron emission tomography/computer tomography (PET/CT) was carried out, and the evaluation of the scans and biological tumor volume contouring was performed at the Department of Nuclear Medicine. The target volume delineation on topometric CT (TCT) scan was performed at the Department of Oncotherapy. The comparison of the two volumes was performed by image fusion and registration. Results: From 363 PSMA isotope-based examinations, 84 lesions of 64 patients were treated with SBRT. In 50 patients, 70 lesions were examined for intermodality comparison. The target volume defined by the PSMA density was significantly smaller than the tumor size defined by the TCT scan: GTVCT (gross tumor volume on the TCT), 27.58 ± 46.07 cm3; BTVPSMA (biological target volume on the PSMA-based examination), 16.14 ± 29.87 cm3. During geometrical analyses, the Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) was 0.56 ± 0.20 (0.07-0.85). Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) control was performed to evaluate the response: mean pre-radiotherapy (pre-RT) PSA was 16.98 ng/ml ( ± SD: 33.81), and post-RT PSA at 3 months after SBRT was 11.19 ng/ml ( ± SD: 32.85). Three-month post-therapy PSMA-based imaging was performed in 14 cases, in which we observed a decrease or cessation of isotope uptake. Conventional imaging control was performed in 42 cases (65.6% of all cases): 22 (52.4%) complete remissions, 14 (33.3%) partial remissions, four (9.5%) stable diseases, and two (4.8%) progressive diseases were described. Conclusion: PSMA-based imaging is a promising diagnostic method for specifying the stage and detecting the low-volume progression. Our results suggest that PSMA-based hybrid imaging can influence treatment decisions and target volume delineation for SBRT.

Intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs), which can interact with many partner proteins, are central to many physiological functions and to various pathologies that include neurodegeneration. Here, we introduce the Sherpa hypothesis, according to which a subset of stable IDPs that we term Phenotype-Preserving Disordered Proteins (PPDP) play a central role in protecting cell phenotypes from perturbations. To illustrate and test this hypothesis, we computer-simulate some salient features of how cells evolve and differentiate in the presence of either a single PPDP or two incompatible PPDPs. We relate this virtual experiment to the pathological interactions between two PPDPs, α-synuclein and Tubulin Polymerization Promoting Protein/p25, in neurodegenerative disorders. Finally, we discuss the implications of the Sherpa hypothesis for aptamer-based therapies of such disorders.

Basal cell nevus syndrome (BCNS, OMIM 109400) is a familial cancer syndrome characterized by the development of numerous basal cell cancers and various other developmental abnormalities, including epidermal cysts of the skin, calcified dural folds, keratocysts of the jaw, palmar and plantar pits, ovarian fibromas, medulloblastomas, lymphomesenteric cysts, and fetal rhabdomyomas. BCNS shows autosomal dominant inheritance and is caused by mutations in the patched 1 (PTCH1) gene and the suppressor of the fused homolog (SUFU) gene. In a few cases, variants of patched 2 (PTCH2) have been found in patients who met the criteria for BCNS. In an investigation of 11 Hungarian families who fulfilled the diagnostic criteria for BCNS, whole-exome sequencing (WES) and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA) identified two novel pathogenic variants (c.2994C>A; p.Cys998Ter and c.814_818del; p.Asn272SerfsTer11), one recently identified variant (c.1737_1745del p.Val580_Val582del), and three recurrent disease-causing variants of the PTCH1 gene with a diagnosis rate of 63.6%. Disease-causing variants were not found for the SUFU and PTCH2 genes. These applied methods could not fully elucidate the genetic background of all the BCNS cases that we investigated. To uncover the missing heritability of BCNS, whole-genome sequencing or an epigenetic approach might be considered in the future.

Introduction: Therapeutic treatment for advanced-stage (T2-T4) gastroesophageal junction (GEJ) and gastric cancer involves neoadjuvant chemotherapy with subsequent surgical intervention. Method: Neoadjuvant oncological treatment for GEJ and gastric cancer previously consisted of the intravenous administration of epirubicin, cisplatin and fluorouracil (ECF) or epirubicin, cisplatin and capecitabine (ECX) combination (Group 1). The new protocol (FLOT, F: 5-FU, L: leucovorin, O: oxaliplatin, T: docetaxel), included patients with resectable GEJ and gastric cancer who had a clinical stage cT2 or higher nodal positive cN+ disease (Group 2). Between 31 December 2008 and 31 October 2022, the effect of different oncological protocols in terms of surgical outcomes in cases of T2-T4 tumours were retrospectively evaluated. Results of randomly assigned patients from the earlier ECF/ECX protocol (n = 36) (Group 1) and the new FLOT protocol (n = 52) (Group 2) were compared. Effect of different neoadjuvant therapies on tumour regression, types of possible side effects, type of surgery, and oncological radicality of surgical procedures were analysed. Results: When comparing the two groups, we found that in case of the FLOT neoadjuvant chemotherapy (Group 2, n = 52), complete regression was achieved in 13.95% of patients, whereas in the case of ECF/ECX (Group 1, n = 36), complete regression occurred in only 9.10% of patients. Furthermore, in the FLOT group, the mean number of lymph nodes removed was slightly higher (24.69 vs. 20.13 in the ECF/ECX group). In terms of the safety resection margin (proximal), no significant difference was found between the two treatment groups. Nausea and vomiting were the most common side effects. The occurrence of diarrhea was significantly higher in the FLOT group (p = 0.006). Leukopenia and nausea occurred more commonly with the old protocol (Group 1). The rate of neutropenia was lower following FLOT treatment (p = 0.294), with the lack of grade II and III cases. Anaemia occured at a significantly higher rate (p = 0.036) after the ECF/ECX protocol. Conclusions: As a result of the FLOT neoadjuvant oncological protocol for advanced gastro-esophageal junction and gastric cancer, the rate of complete tumour regression increased significantly. The rate of side effects was also appreciably lower following the FLOT protocol. These results strongly suggest a significant advantage of the FLOT neoadjuvant treatment used before surgery.

Differences in institutions have garnered much attention in recent years as one of the primary reasons for long-term economic performance, and a vast corpus of theoretical and empirical research demonstrates that financial development can have a substantial impact on economic and financial performance. In fast-growing emerging markets, the demand for financial services has considerably increased, which amplified the need for an efficient regulatory framework to deal with the sensitive nature of financial activities. Surprisingly, the existing literature on the impact of institutions and finance is focused on developed economies, while emerging markets are rarely focused on. Since emerging markets are becoming increasingly important as a result of the swift evolution of institutional and financial transformation, it is crucial to examine how the growth of financial markets reacts to institutional quality. This study investigates the role of institutions in promoting finance in emerging economies using the balanced panel dataset of 21 emerging market. Given the endogenous relationship between institutions and finance, the paper applies a two-stage least squares estimator to test the settler mortality hypothesis in this context. Aligned with theoretical intuition, the empirical result shows that settler mortality is a relevant instrument to institutions. Furthermore, the study performs robustness, using framework that deals with heterogeneity, and cross-section dependence. This empirical effort validates La Porta's Law and Finance Hypothesis in the context of emerging markets. The results of the study are found robust across the variety of alternative measures of institutions and finance, and standard error correction specifications. Therefore, the study offers useful insight into policy implications.

Familiar controversies in the management of head and neck melanomas are more remarkable in locally advanced cases, and they represent a treatment challenge both surgically and oncologically. In our retrospective study, patients with surgically treated primary malignant melanoma of the head and neck region larger than 3 cm in diameter were included. Five patients met our inclusion criteria. In all cases, wide excision and immediate reconstruction were performed without sentinel lymph node biopsy. The defect on the scalp was covered by a split skin graft, with local flaps chosen for reconstruction on the face on an individual basis. After a 2-6 year follow-up, a good oncological, functional, and esthetic result was achieved. Our results show that in the case of large, locally advanced melanomas, surgical treatment still plays a crucial role that can provide long-term local control and support the effect of systemic treatment.

Biofuels have received a lot of attention as an important source of renewable energy, with number of economic impacts. This study aims to investigate the economic potential of biofuels and then extract core aspects of how biofuels relate to a sustainable economy in order to achieve a sustainable biofuel economy. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of publications about biofuel economic research covering 2001 to 2022 experimenting with multiple bibliometric tools, such as R Studio, Biblioshiny, and VOSviewer. Findings show that research on biofuels and biofuel production growth are positively correlated. From the analyzed publications, The United States, India, China, and Europe are the largest biofuel markets, with the USA taking the lead in publishing scientific papers, engaging country collaboration on biofuel, and has the highest social impact. Findings also show that the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France, Sweden, and Spain are more inclined to develop sustainable biofuel economies and energy than other European countries. It also indicates that sustainable biofuel economies are still far behind those of less developed and developing countries. Besides, this study finds that biofuel linked to sustainable economy with poverty reduction, agriculture development, renewable energy production, economic growth, climate change policy, environmental protection, carbon emission reduction, green-house gas emission, land use policy, technological innovations, and development. The findings of this bibliometric research are presented using different clusters, mapping, and statistics. The discussion of this study affirms the good and effective policies for a sustainable biofuel economy.

5G mobile communication technology is anticipated to merge with many other sectors, spurring innovation and creating substantial ripple effects. Despite the significance of this advancement, current research provides limited knowledge of users' behavioral reactions to the affordances, values, and trust generated from 5G technology. To investigate this relationship, this study used the Stimulus-response theory and the consumption values theory. The empirical data was gathered from 373 consumers in China using a survey method. To validate the model's suggested relationships, the author utilized the partial least squares-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) technique. The finding designates that the affordances and purchase intention relationship was mediated by consumption values and trust. Given the significance of 5G technology and its potential, this study investigates what drives and deters consumers from obtaining 5G technology. Original findings insights on the role of affordances in developing marketing strategies and increasing consumer intentions to purchase 5G technology products.

BACKGROUND: Recent real-world studies have reported significant improvements in the survival of malignant melanoma in the past few years, mainly as a result of modern therapies. However, long-term survival data from Central Eastern European countries such as Hungary are currently lacking. METHODS: This nationwide, retrospective study examined melanoma survival in Hungary between 2011-2019 using the databases of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and Central Statistical Office (CSO) of Hungary. Crude overall survival and age-standardized 5-year net survival as well as the association between age, sex and survival were calculated. RESULTS: Between 2011 and 2019, 22,948 newly diagnosed malignant melanoma cases were recorded in the NHIF database (47.89% male, mean age: 60.75 years (SD: ±16.39)). Five-year overall survival was 75.40% (women: 80.78%; men: 69.52%). Patients diagnosed between 2017-2019 had a 20% lower risk of mortality compared to patients diagnosed between 2011-2012 (HR 0.80, 95% CI 0.73-0.89; p < 0.0001). Age-standardized 5-year net survival rates in 2011-2014 and 2015-2019 were 90.6% and 95.8%, respectively (women: 93.1% and 98.4%, men: 87.8% and 92.7%, respectively). The highest age-standardized 5-year net survival rates were found in the 0-39 age cohort (94.6% in the 2015-2019 period). CONCLUSION: Hungary has similar melanoma survival rates to Western European countries. Based on net survival, the risk of dying of melanoma within 5 years was cut by more than half (55%) during the study period, which coincides with the successful implementation of awareness campaigns and the wide availability of modern therapies.

RESUMEN

The COVID-19 epidemic is the most significant global health disaster of this century and the greatest challenge to humanity since World War II. One of the most important research issues is to determine the effectiveness of measures implemented worldwide to control the spread of the corona virus. A dynamic simulated Autoregressive-Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach was adopted to analyze the policy response to COVID-19 in the ASEAN region using data from February 1, 2020, to November 8, 2021. The results of unit root concluded that the dependent variable is integrated of order one while the independent variables are stationarized at the level or first difference, and the use of a dynamic simulated ARDL technique is appropriate for this paper. The outcomes of the dynamic simulated ARDL model explored that government economic support and debt/contract relief for poor families is substantially important in the fight against COVID-19. The study also explored that closing schools and workplaces, restrictions on gatherings, cancellation of public events, stay at home, closing public transport, restrictions on domestic and international travel are necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Finally, this study explored that public awareness campaigns, testing policy and social distancing significantly decrease the spread of COVID-19. Policy implications such as economic support from the government to help poor families, closing schools and public gatherings during the pandemic, public awareness among the masses, and testing policies must be adopted to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Moreover, the reduction in mortality shows that immunization could be a possible new strategy to combat COVID-19, but the factors responsible for the acceptability of the vaccine must be addressed immediately through public health policies.

Purpose: The aim of this article is to establish a comprehensive contouring guideline for treatment planning using only magnetic resonance images through an up-to-date set of organs at risk (OARs), recommended organ boundaries, and relevant suggestions for the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based delineation of OARs in the head and neck (H&N) region. Methods and Materials: After a detailed review of the literature, MRI data were collected from the H&N region of healthy volunteers. OARs were delineated in the axial, coronal, and sagittal planes on T2-weighted sequences. Every contour defined was revised by 4 radiation oncologists and subsequently by 2 independent senior experts (H&N radiation oncologist and radiologist). After revision, the final structures were presented to the consortium partners. Results: A definitive consensus was reached after multi-institutional review. On that basis, we provided a detailed anatomic and functional description and specific MRI characteristics of the OARs. Conclusions: In the era of precision radiation therapy, the need for well-built, straightforward contouring guidelines is on the rise. Precise, uniform, delineation-based, automated OAR segmentation on MRI may lead to increased accuracy in terms of organ boundaries and analysis of dose-dependent sequelae for an adequate definition of normal tissue complication probability.

Background: During the last decade, one of the most important treatment options for locally advanced, potencially resectable rectal tumours was neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) followed by surgery. Methods: Effects of the neoadjuvant treatment on surgical outcomes were retrospectively analysed in 185 patients with stage T2-T4 and N0-2, resectable rectal tumour among two patient groups defined by radiosensitizer agents. Group 1 (n = 94) involved radiotherapy (RT) with 50.4 Gy total dose (25 × 1.8 Gy + 3 × 1.8 Gy tumour bed boost), and intravenous 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) (350 mg/m2) with leucovorin (20 mg/m2) on the 1-5 and 21-25 days, while Group 2 (n = 91) RT and orally administrated capecitabine (daily 2 × 825 mg/m2) on RT days. Surgery was carried out after 8-10 weeks. Side effects, perioperative complications, type of surgery, number of removed regional lymph nodes, resection margins and tumour regression grade (TRG) were analysed. Results: More favourable side effects were observed in Group 2. Despite the same rate of diarrhoea (Group 1 vs. Group 2: 54.3% vs. 56.0%), Grade 2-3 diarrhoea ratio was lower (p = 0.0352) after capecitabine (Group 2). Weight loss occurred in 17.0% and 2.2% (p = 0.00067), while nausea and vomiting was described in 38.3% and 15.4% (p = 0.00045) with 5-FU treatment and capecitabine respectively. Anaemia was observed in 33.0% and 22.0% (p = 0.0941). Complete tumour regression occurred in 25.3% after oral- and 13.8% after intravenous treatment (p = 0.049). Ratio of sphincter preservation was higher with laparoscopy than open surgery (72.3% vs. 39.7%) (p = 0.00001). Conclusion: The study confirms advantages of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy with oral capecitabine for rectal tumours, such as more favourable side effect profile and overall clinical outcome, with increased rate of complete tumour regression.
